Happy Wednesday! I'm spending the morning doing a lot of working and creating, here in this tiny cafe. The afternoon will be filled with art projects and my babies. Not too bad at all.
Today I wanted to dive into the wonderful world of podcasts a little bit. I often get asked about pregnancy and birth related podcasts, and which ones I tend to gravitate towards.
I love podcasts. I didn't really get into them until this year, but once I did, I cannot get enough. I generally listen to them when I'm heading to a client, or a birth, or during work hours, when I'm creating content or doing back end work. Also, sometimes in the evening when I'm putting the house back together after the tornado of a day.
Whenever you can fit them in, I definitely recommend it. I gain everything from education, to personal development, to professional development, to perspective, and even connection to other mothers and women, through the podcasts that I listen to.
Podcasts can be a powerful tool for mom's to be and new moms to gather, digest and tap into the different feelings, experiences and options they are faced with daily. It can also be comforting to know and feel that what you are feeling, and the questions you are asking are normal, in addition to having the opportunity to hear another woman's thoughts on a particular topic.
I have many clients who use podcasts to learn about different ways of birthing and different options they may have in pregnancy, postpartum or motherhood, then bring the information to me, their doula, to ask questions and explore it more deeply to see if it may be a good fit for them. The information sharing alone can be very empowering.
Here are just a few of my favorite pregnancy, birth and postpartum related podcasts:
